MEISEL: INTERVIEW
Louis K. Meisel is a New York art dealer and
major collector of Photorealist works. One of the first to
support the movement, he coined the term Photorealism in the
late 1960s and had continued to be the leading proponent of
the movement. Among his efforts on its behalf have been three
catalogues raisonnés as well as monographs on Richard
Estes( 1986, with John Perreault) and Charles Bell(1991, with
Henry Geldzalher).
An avid collector of decorative arts and memorabilia, he has
also written a study of the life and works of the ceramicist
Clarice Cliff and two volumes on American pin up art. |

Louis K. Meisel est un marchand d’art
établi à New York et un des principaux collectionneur
de peintures Photoréalistes. Un des premiers à
supporter le mouvement, il inventa le terme Photoréalism
à la fin des années 60 et a continué
à en être le promoteur . Parmi les écrits
à mettre à son actif, on retiendra les 3 catalogues
raisonnés aussi bien que les monographies de Richard

Collectionneur avide d’art décoratif, il a
aussi écrit une étude sur la vie et l’œuvre
